What is a Deposit Return Scheme (DRS)?

The Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) helps reduce plastic waste by encouraging consumers to return single-use drink containers for recycling. As part of the EU Plastics Legislation, member states must collect 90% of plastic beverage containers by 2029. DRS is key to achieving these targets by offering consumer deposits refunds.

While large retailers use reverse vending machines (RVMs) for automated collection, smaller retailers often rely on manual solutions due to cost and space constraints. Trovr QUBE bridges this gap with a compact, affordable solution, making it easier for all retailers to contribute to recycling efforts.

The QUBE's self-serve system optimises daily operations by reducing staff involvement in recycling and waste handling. This effectively eliminates worries about additional queues at checkout, ensuring a smoother customer experience.

Hygiene

The consumer self-serve system eliminates the necessity for staff members to handle containers over the counter. This reduces the risk of cross-contamination, odours, and liquid spillage by the counter, improving cleanliness and operational efficiency.

Retail Footprint

The QUBE's adaptable design enables it to fit onto different collection receptacles effectively maximising the available space in retail environments. The QUBE can be placed on our custom built cabinet or a standard wheelie bin for HoReCa environments.

Price Point

The QUBE offers retailers a cost-effective solution for Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) participation. With low initial capital expenditure and leasing options, retailers can accelerate their return on investment through our "DRS as a Service" model.

The Trovr platform provides Scheme Operators and waste management providers with a comprehensive 24/7 data stream for each Trovr QUBE deployed in the field. This enables real-time monitoring of manual handling locations optimising waste collections, reducing cost and carbon footprint.

Digital Payments

The Trovr App includes a built in digital DRS payment system providing a seamless method of returning container deposits directly to a consumers chosen bank account while also compensating retailers and other return point operators with scheme handling fees.

Trovr App Incentives

For each container recycled using the Trovr Consumer App, consumers receive Trovr points in addition to DRS deposits. The Trovr Merchant App enables retailers to create their own in-App vouchers which can be exchanged for their earned reward points within the Trovr Consumer App.

Merchant App

The Trovr Merchant App is the digital interface between the Trovr QUBE and retailers worldwide. 

Retailers can:

  • Activate their Trovr QUBE through the Trovr App and assign the QUBE to a business location.
  • Verify customers QUBE receipts and make cash or digital DRS payments where activated.
  • View in real time QUBE status – collections, weights, items recycled, and out of service alerts.
  • Set up in-store loyalty schemes and voucher programmes where activated.
